D.O.C. "Malvasia di Casorzo d'Asti "

Zona di ProduzioneA sweet dessert wine produced in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria. The colour varies from ruby to cherry red, while the bouquet is the characteristic, fragrant aroma of Malvasia. Sweet, pleasingly aromatic palate.
The minimum alcohol content is 10.5%, 11% for the "spumante naturale" variety.

 
D.O.C. status granted: D.M. 26 May 1997;
Grape variety: this label refers to red, rosé or passito wines made from grapes from vineyards in the same winery planted with at least 90% Malvasia di Casorzo grapes; the remaining percentage may comprise, singly or combined, Freisa, Grignolino, Barbera grapes or aromatic varieties recommended or authorised for the provinces of Asti and Alessandria.
"Casorzo" or "Malvasia di Casorzo"
Colour: from ruby to cherry red (rosé);
Bouquet: characteristic, fragrant aroma;
Flavour: sweet, slightly aromatic, soft, characteristic;
Total minimum alcohol content by volume: 10.5% by vol., at least 4.5% acquired alcohol;
Minimum ageing by law: not prescribed; to be drunk young.
"Casorzo" spumante or "Malvasia di Casorzo" spumante
Colour: rosé of varying intensity;
Bouquet: aromatic, characteristic;
Flavour: sweet, slightly aromatic, soft, characteristic;
Total minimum alcohol content by volume: 11% by vol., at least 6.5% acquired alcohol.

 

"Casorzo" passito or "Malvasia di Casorzo" passito
Colour: deep ruby red;
Bouquet: intense, complex, characteristic;
Flavour: sweet, velvety, characteristic;
Total minimum alcohol content by volume: 15% by vol., at least 10% acquired alcohol.
