D.O.C. "Grignolino d'Asti "

Zona di Produzione Grignolino d'Asti has been produced since before the eighteenth century in the hilly area around Asti. It is made from Grignolino grapes, with the possible addition of up to 10% Freisa grapes.
Ruby red in colour, tending to orange with ageing, it has a delicate bouquet and a pleasingly bitterish taste with a lasting finish.
It must be at least 11% by vol., and can be drunk throughout the meal.

 
D.O.C. status granted: D.P.R. 29 May 1973;
Grape variety: Grignolino; with the possible addition of up to 10% Freisa grapes from the same estate.
Colour: light ruby red tending to orange if aged;
Bouquet: characteristic and delicate;
Flavour: clean, slightly tannic, pleasingly bitterish, with a lasting finish;
Overall minimum alcohol content: 11% by vol.;
Minimum ageing by law: not prescribed;
