Grignolino
d'Asti has been produced since before
the eighteenth century in the hilly area
around Asti. It is made from Grignolino
grapes, with the possible addition of
up to 10% Freisa grapes.
Ruby red in colour, tending to orange
with ageing, it has a delicate bouquet
and a pleasingly bitterish taste with
a lasting finish.
It must be at least 11% by vol., and can
be drunk throughout the meal.
