Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato is produced in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria from Cortese grapes, with the possible addition of not more than 15% of other white grapes (non-aromatic varieties).
Light straw yellow in colour, it may have greenish nuances. It has a characteristic, delicate bouquet and a dry, harmonious and pleasingly bitter palate.
It must have at least 10% alcohol, and is best served with hors d’oeuvres and light dishes.
“Spumante" or "frizzante" versions are also produced.
