D.O.C. "Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato "

Zona di Produzione Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato is produced in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria from Cortese grapes, with the possible addition of not more than 15% of other white grapes (non-aromatic varieties).
Light straw yellow in colour, it may have greenish nuances. It has a characteristic, delicate bouquet and a dry, harmonious and pleasingly bitter palate.
It must have at least 10% alcohol, and is best served with hors d’oeuvres and light dishes.
“Spumante" or "frizzante" versions are also produced.

 
D.O.C. status granted: D.M. 26 June 1992, modified by D.M. 13 October 1993;
Grape variety: Cortese. A maximum of 15% of other white, non-aromatic varietals is permitted.
Colour: light straw yellow, possibly with greenish nuances;
Bouquet: characteristic, delicate, very subtle but lasting;
Flavour: clean, harmonious, full-flavoured, pleasingly bitter;
Overall minimum alcohol content by volume: 10% by vol.
