"Asti " o "Asti Spumante"
|
This
typical Piedmontese wine was produced
in the Monferrato and Langhe areas as
far back as the 13th century.
It is produced in the provinces of Alessandria,
Asti and Cuneo exclusively from white
Moscato grapes.
The name Asti alone or accompanied by
the classification spumante ("Asti"
or "Asti Spumante") is reserved
for the spumante variety of wine, while
the same name preceded by the classification
moscato, namely "Moscato d’Asti"
is used to indicate a non-sparkling white
wine.
"Asti" and "Moscato d’Asti"
are a perfect accompaniment to all types
of cakes, pastries and biscuits. In the
Piedmont region Moscato is used instead
of Marsala to make zabaglione. "Asti"
